That's beautiful. Also on my bucket list even though I have a nice Old Town that rarely gets wet.

Original Chestnut canoes can still be found around these parts although at a hefty price.

I built one in 2002 following the same path, but the model is a 16' Prospector.

Took from Labor Day to New Years to complete. Great project.

Family is now essentially gone, camper stolen, becoming an ex-pat, need to sell mine.
Trees trained by the elements yield good timber

...Naval Aviators, that had balz made of brass and the size of bowling balls, getting shot off the deck at night, in heavy seas, hoping that when they leave the deck that the ship is pointed towards the sky and not the water.

Whoa, that's fantastic.

I have a question right up your alley. I've a two decade old Mad River Canoe that needs new gunwales. I can buy them for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$, so I'd like to do them myself. Any tips/suggestions/etc?
