Design/Drafting Question
#5
I have an irregular border with inside and outside curves with 1" to 3" radii. I need to draw a parallel line 1" inside this border. Compass only works if it is exactly perpendicular to the edge, which I am unable to do reliably. There must be a way that I'm missing.

Seems like you could make a 1" radius disk with a small hole in the center for a pencil and use it to draw your line, rolling it along the edge of your template.

Done that quick.

Cut a hole with a 2 1/8" hole saw and use the core. Pencil fits nicely in the bit hole. Thanks!

They even make a tool that does the same thing

Home made type is cheaper, just as accurate, and you can size the circles to the job.
Worst thing they can do is cook ya and eat ya
