Cove cutting on a table saw, revisited
#6
I have often wondered if a molding head on the table saw, with a bit like this would work for cove cutting. It has a smaller radius than the 10" saw blade, which would affect the size of the cove. However, I like the idea of the blade approaching the wood at an angle. I don't believe this would work for off set coves (with the TS arbor tilted). A different profile may work for that though. One would still need to take shallow cuts.

Has anyone used a molding head to make coves?

Thanks.
I tried not believing.  That did not work, so now I just believe

yes but this is the cutter I prefer

edit to add: this cutter will work on angled heads as well

What he said. My Sears molding head equipped with a thumbnail knife-set is my preferred tooling for cutting cove molding.
