Clearest ID is "1200". Can't quite make out patent date on I think "July 9, 1895" This has the strongest chuck I have ever encountered.

You have a PS&W (Peck, Stow & Wilcox, later Pexto) with the Samson chuck. Very good brace and their best chuck, IMO. The 1200 model was a 7" throw (14" sweep). Kind of a rare sized brace. The Samson chuck is the patent date you see. It was designed to hold round, as well as tanged bits. Nice find.

Yup, love that chuck, also the Lion chuck, both as good as the Yankee chuck, perhaps better in some respects.
