Marine varnish works in a different world and is formulated accordingly. And it's priced accordingly, due to the substantial price for good uv inhibitors. Those of us who work in that world heve never taken long to learn that skimping on cut price marine varnish or - heavens forefend - shoreside varnishes is a good path to angry, very angry and lost customers. For most deck level use (i.e., not spars and masts and booms), Epiphanes is generally best as it's a bit harder and more scratch resistant than most and has uv protection as good as any.

Even so, any varnish job needs an annual scuff with 220 paper and a coat or two of fresh varnish over the five or six of the initial coat and prior years of refresh coats; then after five or six years, it has to be stripped to bare wood and start over. There ain't no easy way.

Now you know one reason yachting is so expensive.

Yes, but the Flood CWF-UV you used before is likely as good or better, and costs a lot less.

CWF-UV can be applied with a garden sprayer ... How hard to apply a maintenance coat twice a year ? If it fails.... TSP - Bleach - Power washer will return it to original . Spray guard for decks . Easy peezy !!!!!
