WTB - small chunk of wide thick walnut
#11
Hi All,

Does anybody have a chunk of walnut they could sell me, 2.25" thick (min) x 14" wide (or two at 7” wide) with vertical or rift-sawn end-grain?

It only needs to be 2-3 inches in “length” and it’s the end-grain specifically I need it for to act as the ends of a “slab” I’m making using 3 layers of MDF veneered with 1/16” quarter sawn walnut. I want to make the ends of this fake "slab" look like the end-grain of a real quarter-sawn slab without a bunch of glue-lines and mis-matched grain.

Thanks!

How soon do you need it? I may have some down in Md but not sure when I will get back down.
I no longer build museums but don't want to change my name. My new job is a lot less stressful. Life is much better.

not for a few weeks at the very least. just prepping for a new project and putting the feelers out since I've not been able to find something yet.

If the previous offers don't pan out, let me know. I'll let you know what I find when I head back to the old homestead.
