Storage drawers in a bed, how?
Posted by: sniper - 08-10-2014, 06:40 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (9)

I'm thinking along the lines that you are.

Put dados in the runners/supports that run the length of the bed. Drill them for lag bolts. Put perpendicular runners (for supporting your drawers) across, seated in the dadoes, and screw them into place. You'll still be able to take it apart.

Through nuts and bolts might be a better choice if it'll be taken down regularly.

Very nice, Bartee. I love organized storage, and I particularly like your chisel drawers. I need to finish putting dividers in mine. Thanks for the inspiration.

Restoration of a Cuyahoga Saw Co 7ppi Rip Saw

Great restoration Bob. I probably would have walked past that saw at a yard sale, but you did an amazing job on that handle. Love it.

  Opinions needed Sawhorses and Holdfasts
Posted by: DJChurn - 08-05-2014, 10:36 AM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (15)

It looks alot like my sawbench that has a 2x6 top. As for the holdfast, I use my booted foot. Before I built the bench, I tested stacks of lumber to determine a comfortable height for boot holding. It has worked well. Any board that wants to move gets a single C-clamp on the opposite end. Good luck with your bench.

How do you guys store spray cans, glue , etc ?????????????????????
Posted by: kegler01 - 08-03-2014, 09:13 AM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (16)

I use a cheap floor standing metal cabinet with a door and multiple shelves. Your glue, finishes, and solvents will add up quickly. Although it's not a fire resistant cabinet, i do like the idea of it being metal and enclosed. You can probably find something that will work for minimal costs if you attend a few estate sales in older neighborhoods. I think I paid $15 for mine. Money well spent if you have the floor space.

Nice!

As one who voted for the walnut, I am glad you are writing this up as a build along.

The chalk marks make sense.
