0 Thread: Good Table Saw Blade
Post: RE: Good Table Saw Blade

The best brands for hobby work I've used are Infinity, Ridge Carbide, Forrest, Freud Industrial, and Tenryu Gold Medal, with Infinity impressing me more than any other.  What to get depends a lot on w...

Post: RE: Incra TS-LS52 Fence Value?

The Incra is in a league of it's own for precision and repeatability, but there are pros and cons with all fences.  It really boils down to preference, and whether or not you can live with the downsid...

The R4512 and Delta 36-725 are the usual candidates at the entry price point.  Both have a fair amount of baggage, but some get good service from them.  Both have steel wings, both have smaller motors...

Post: RE: Old Circle Saw Blades

Send the good quality blades to a reputable sharpener - Dynanic Saw, Scott Whiting, Forrest, and Ridge Carbide are all reputable.  Low quality blades aren't worth messing with.

I'd think the bearings are a small task compared to selling and moving out the old saw, and bringing in a new one, assembling it, setting it up, etc.   With that said, if I were getting a new saw I...

I use my TS for all crosscuts except for very long pieces like molding.  Otherwise my CMS sits under the bench and gets pulled out every 3 or 4 years.

Post: RE: Jointing first face with thickness planer

You can get some flattening effect with a planer by taking away high spots, but it's  hard to control and predict.  If the board is bowed, which is very common, the planer will push it down flat durin...

I've owned both, but prefer the left tilt...mostly because it's just easier to thread the arbor nut with my right hand in a normal orientation.  Either way, I wouldn't let the tilt direction deter me ...

Crosscutting doesn't usually require as much power, so there's less need for a TK blade on a miter saw.   If it's a good quality blade, you should be fine with a 10" TK if you let the blade do the wor...
