  Yet another belt sharpener...
Posted by: Timberwolf - 11-25-2014, 09:30 PM - Forum: Woodworking Hand Tools - Replies (107)

Built with just a few simple tools and inexpensive materials...and lots of desire....I think Mark did a fine job building this hand tool sharpener, especially true when all he had to go by was a few pictures and no measurements or prints..Good job, Mark!!!!

  Remote for 3HP Dust Collector
Posted by: Blacky's Boy - 11-12-2014, 02:41 PM - Forum: Woodworking Power Tools - Replies (104)

After nearly falling over several times trying to contort myself to reach the ON/OFF switch I'm thinking of getting a remote for my newly installed 3HP DC. I was going to go with the one from PSI but it says it for DCs up to 2HP.

A quick search showed me THIS one sold by Grizzly

T26674 240V Dust Collection Remote

Any comments about this one or maybe suggestion on another type?

Whos done mortises on a router table
Posted by: Wayne G. - 11-07-2014, 08:00 PM - Forum: Woodworking - Replies (9)

I've done a few that way, but found it awkward at best and it felt potentially dangerous. I also found the bit changed position slightly every time I raised up the router, so the resultant mortise had little steps in it which is not good. So I built a horizontal router mortiser for about $50. I've cut hundreds of mortises with it over the past 3 years. Fast, safe, accurate and repeatable. And it does a whole lot more than just mortises, too. You can spend money on some commercial jig or machine but there's really no need.
